Christmas Giveaway: Paris in Color {closed}

All images courtesy of Nichole Robertson

To kick off the holiday season, I wanted to share one of my favourite books on Paris with you: Paris in Color by the super talented Nichole Robertson of Little Brown Pen.  I first discovered this book earlier this year and fell in love with Nichole's sublime shots of the city.  Despite having lived here for several years, Nichole made me see Paris in so many new lights.  She has an incredible eye for details that speak to the true spirit of the city.  As this season is about the spirit of giving, I am giving away one copy of Paris in Color just in time for Christmas.  For a chance to win, all you need to do is:

Step 1 :: Leave a comment below explaining why you'd like to win a copy of this book.

Step 2 :: Visit, read, and comment on 3 other posts in the Little Pieces of Lights blog.

Giveaway closes on Sunday 9 December at 11pm Paris time (GMT + 8 hours).  Entries are accepted from all around the world and the winner will be chosen based on the responses and comments left.  (Don't worry, Disqus will track all your comments, so no need to tell me where you've left them!)

BONNE CHANCE !!

Omg! The absolute perfect Christmas gift for oneself! It would be oh-so great to have this beauty by my bedside and read it before I sleep. That way I could always have Paris dreams.

  3. What a beautiful book... I'd love to win it! Even at its prettiest, Paris can be a very monochrome city (especially now), it's nice to have a visual reminder of its many colors.

  9. Ah, that is so true about Paris being quite monochrome! I'm secretly hoping it will somehow magically change before I return at the end of the month :)

  11. I would love to win this divine colour explosion photobook of Paris because I have been to Paris
    twice
now and wont be able to go back for many years as my elderly mother is
moving in with me in a week and I am in DC right now to pick her up. I
love reading your blog, especially when you went to Buenos Aires which
took me back to my trip there. I am living vicariously now through your
posts due to my responsibility to my lovely mother to provide her a
safe and happy place to live, but I don't want to loose my connection to
these wonderful cities which I was so blessed to experience. Thanks
for sharing your photos and insights with all of us in the reader
    sphere!

  12. Hi Susan. Your message truly touched me and I think your mother is the luckiest woman in the world to have such a loving daughter. I'm honoured that my photographs and writings keep the connection to these cities alive for you, and perhaps one day you will have the opportunity to return to them! Until then, I will do my best to show you as much as I can.

  18. J' adore Paris!! The people, the food, the culture & history and the energy that the city has!! I've visited twice and got engaged on the second trip in Nov '11 & it was magical (just married in OCT)!! I dream of moving to France with my family!!

  21. Thank you :) I'm a big fan of Nichole's blog and prints as well!

  22. I LOVE that space is the constraining reason for you in this case :) Have you gotten a Kindle btw? I thought I would hate it but after my friends bought me one for my birthday in August, I have grown to love it! Super convenient especially for people like us who travel so much. I still like my actual paper books - the feel, the smell, everything about them! - but I think it's great to make space in your life for a Kindle also.

  23. OOO LA LA.....Tres Jolie! Traveling to Paris was on my bucket list so I saved my money for two years and got to go in 2009. Three years later I am still reveling in the memories. Last year I unfortunately lost my job and am sooooo happy that I have those beautiful memories of Paris and the lavender fields in Provence to sustain me at times. This book looks like a treasury of Paris beauty!! Good luck to moi and hugs to you for your generosity.

  24. Well technically I have space in my apartment, but I know I won't be able to pack it when I eventually leave Paris. And I do have Kindle (for iPad), but it's just not the same :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow, that's so wonderful that you live in Rome! I really love this city; it's one of my favourites in Europe. Paris is so close by; you could always come for a real holiday too :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Amanda. I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your job. I hope that you will find something soon! I know that jobs are tough to come by these days, but keep your head high and your heart strong. I'm glad to hear that you have such wonderful memories of Paris to keep you going.

  28. That's so lovely that you got engaged in Paris - it'll definitely always hold a special place for you :)

  30. Paris is the home city of my boyfriend, I adore it and find it the most beautiful city in the world!
This book intrigues me because even though gorgeous, Paris has this overall not so colorful look due the buildings' facade, I would love to see where these amazing photos were taken, the colors are as vivid as they were from Latin American cities! It's exactly due to the overall gray Parisian look that these bits of color pop out so impressively! Gorgeous book, it'd make me feel a little better when I miss my boyfriend and to dream that some day not too late we can both be there together everyday...
[I have commented on several posts, let me know if you can locate them, please. I will keep browsing and commenting because I love your blog and I'm, so happy to have found it!! Thank you, Little Brown pen!!]

  34. My love affair with France started when I was 16 years old. I had an opportunity to go to France with my 10th grade high school French class. It was my absolute first time on a plane and along with being nervous about flying, the idea of stepping off the plane from NY and being in Paris was unbelievable. Well, the feeling never left me and I have been back four times since. I love the architecture, the people, the countryside, the food and wine...it's just a beautiful part of this world.

Maybe someday! I'd love to start a blog like yours!

    ReplyDelete
  49. If you already have a collection of photographs, you should start one as soon as you are inspired to. :) And start off simply! When I started this blog, I promise you, I had no real concept of what I wanted to write about or take photos of. I simply wrote and photographed whatever inspired me. I also had no concept of blog formatting and just threw things on the page in the easiest manner possible! My blog was pretty raw at the beginning to say the least (just look at the first Eiffel Tower photo I took - lol). Over time, I figured out what I wanted to write about and photograph, and learned how to present things more closely to the way I would want to read them. And then it was literally only a week ago when I did a massive overhaul of this blog's design. I think the great thing about blogging is that it's an evolving project, and anyone can start one as simply as possible then grow it to something that really captures their creative spirit. So I guess it's a long way of saying go for it! I'm sure it will be wonderful :)

I read your post thoroughly, very informative and helpful, I was wondering if you had any information about a bit more economical choices than the Sorbonne, regarding a French learning program :-) And also if there are any scholarship options?
