A Day at the Budapest Christmas Markets

So where did I end up taking the boy for the surprise Christmas getaway that I mentioned previously?  Cosy, chilly, and magical Budapest!  And more specifically, the Budapest Christmas Markets, which were in my top 10 Christmas markets list.  Whilst the temperature forecast that I had given him as a hint was much lower than the actual weather we had, I was delighted that he never ended up guessing the destination (he was leaning towards Oslo and only learned that we were heading east rather than north right before we boarded our flight).  Budapest was a special choice for me because a) Hungary is a country that neither of us had ever visited, b) their Christmas markets are amongst the few that last past Christmas Eve in Europe, and c) I had read so many beautiful and magical things about the city that I wanted to share the experience with someone I love.  I shall write a true weekender post about visiting the city soon, but for now, here are my shots of the day that we spent at the Budapest Christmas MarketsBoldog ünnepeket!

  2. Okay, I'd never have guessed that! Looks like loads of fun anyway - one year I'm going to hit one of the big markets, though I best start sharpening my elbows in preparation now ;o)

Looking forward to hearing & seeing about Iceland, as well. It's part of Bee's heritage & is definitely on our bucket list.
