A Perfect Winter Afternoon Indoors

I spent the latter half of yesterday afternoon indoors, curled up on the couch with a book, a cup of tea, and some sweet treats.  (Yes, I know ... it's Pastry Week at Chez Milsters.)  The tea I was having is from my favourite maison de thé in Paris, Dammann Frères, which I have raved about before.  I was very surprised to stumble upon it in my local Marché Franprix as I was doing the afternoon shop, and decided to treat myself to a box of Jardin Bleu (one of my favourite parfums!) for this cold & grey weather.

The macarons of the day came from De Neuville, which I picked up at the store on Rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Ile after pacing up and down the street lustfully looking for my pastry fix on my way home!  It's the first time I've tried De Neuville's sweets, and I must say, they are solid.  I judge all macaron houses by their ability to do the classic pistache, and De Neuville did it justice.

Can you describe for us what Jardin Bleu smells like? Very curious! Thanks.

  18. Ah Jardin Bleu is so lovely! It's made up of non-smoked teas from China and Ceylan, with petals of sunflower and cornflower and the aromas of rhubarb and strawberry. It's a lovely light tea that I find works well with nutty macaron flavours.
