Last night I drove my boyfriend and my friends in London crazy by continuously sending them photos of potential candidates for bedroom furnishings. I think they're going to have to put up with a serious home décor addiction for a while as I slowly create my new home! After a day of moving (and honestly, 3 days of not being able to hold down much food due to a bizarre winter bug I've caught), I decided to stay in on a Saturday night and indulge my new obsession. I think I spent a good 5 hours browsing the website of my all-time favourite French furnishings store, Maisons du Monde, which has some of the most beautiful country / bohemian / vintage-style furniture I've come across (and for reasonably decent prices). I already have a few pieces from them and am excited to pick out a bed! It's a non-Ikea investment that I think I'm finally at that age to make.
Given the dark wooden beams in my new bedroom as well as my plan to fill it with a lot of little treasures (meaning that the bed will need to be a solid backdrop rather than the shining star), I'm leaning towards one of the three in the collage above. I have a zillion things on my wish list for the bedroom alone - including pieces as particular as Chinese screens and bird cages! - but I think the importance of reflection as well as budget constraints mean that I will stick with the bed for now. It's times like this when I wish that I could be as resourceful and creative as Sarah from La Maison Bohème. If only I could fly her over to Paris to play my interior decorator for a day!

Are there any pieces from my Maisons du Monde mood boards above that you would love to have in your own bedroom?

That armchair in the last row, to curl up with a knitted throw and a book.
ReplyDeleteI want all those rooms lol
ReplyDeleteI usually stay away from these blogs and catalogues because I want it all!
ReplyDeleteI love that three-fold mirror! getting to the "I'm old enough to invest in some non-Ikea furniture" is a big deal - you take your time and ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteOh I need that chaise lounge. It will fit perfectly in my yet unseen next home :)
ReplyDeleteMaisons du Monde is my favorite! I have an unhealthy addiction to that store! I was shopping there on Saturday and I swear, I could've have spent the whole day there!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with that shop!! AND extremely jealous that you get to move into your apartment and decorate it yourself..! that will be my next move rather than having landlord furniture :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy decorating!!!

How awesome that it's a non-furnished place! You're gonna have so much fun sourcing pieces for your gorgeous new place!
ReplyDeleteLOL @"It's a non-Ikea investment that I think I'm finally at that age to make"

Ah I would love that arm chair in my bedroom! I'm thinking of getting either that or the long fauteil next to the mannequin where I can just spread out in a corner of the room with a book :)
ReplyDeleteLOL - I have the same problem!
ReplyDeleteI KNOW! I am being so bloody indecisive, I haven't bought a bed yet!! Which means I'm going to be camping out on my air mattress longer than I should be...
ReplyDeleteThank you Betsy! Ah yes, the 3-fold mirror. Alas another exceptionally beautiful thing on my out-of-budget, out-of-immediate-necessity, but-really-wanting-craving-dying-for list... Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out what your new home will look like!
ReplyDeleteOoooohhhhh... a fellow MdM addict! What did you end up getting on Saturday?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise that so many people loved this store just like I did! I'm so glad I posted about it this time - I thought I was nerding out too much but it looks like there are other interior decorating nerds out there like me :)
ReplyDeleteOh Ikea, I've loved you for so long. But it's time we break up now.
ReplyDeletehaha good one :)
