Sunday in the Marais and Ile St-Louis

It was a very busy past few days for me given my sister's visit from Barcelona and my best friend's visit from London, but I've had an amazing weekend.  Alas it's back to work and whilst it's only the beginning of the week, I already feel like I'm drowning in projects, so for now, I will just leave you with some snapshots from my Sunday with the girls in the Marais and around Ile St-Louis!

We had a gorgeous weekend this past week, with bright blue skies and very crisp cold weather.  Sunday was the perfect day to walk around the Marais, and we started our day off with crêpes at Breizh Café (which is becoming a weekend routine for me - yikes!).  Then we wandered around the Marais, doing a bit of shopping along rue de Vieille du Temple and rue des Francs Bourgeois, my two favourite shopping streets in this area, passing by a street band and some beautiful squares.  For an afternoon pick-me-up, we stopped off at L'Eclair de Génie for some delicious desserts.

The second part of the afternoon was spent around Ile St-Louis.  My sister, as a belated Valentine's Day present for her boyfriend, wanted to leave a love lock on the Seine before heading back to Barcelona.  We opted for the lesser known Pont de l'Archevêché behind the Notre Dame rather than the very crowded and popular Pont des Arts to hang her love on.  The afternoon ended with a leisurely walk back to the Marais under the gorgeous blue skies and singing seagulls.  Altogether a perfect Sunday afternoon!

  1. Those are some gorgeous photos! Thank goodness that I didn't see them before I wandered around the Marais yesterday, otherwise I would have been tempted by the desserts at L'Eclair de Génie. They look absolutely delicious!

  7. I generally live on food stops. That's what keeps me going in life. :)

  8. You should definitely start a love lock tradition in Le Petit Village. You could have the Love Bridge of Provence!! That is sure to bring more tourists than you already have. :)
